Confidence and You

Think of a recent social gathering you attended. Who were the people that projected confidence? Likely they had a warm and enthusiastic nature. They naturally draw people to them. Social gatherings are opportunities for them to meet, greet, and grow.

We all want to have confidence and to feel, as if we belong. Here are some ideas to help you feel confident no matter what you're doing or whom you're with:

Smile. Smile as if you’re greeting someone you like and you’re happy to see them. This helps you radiate positive energy.

Breathe. If you feel a little anxious around people or situations that are unfamiliar to you, take a few deep breaths to relax. Slow breathing lowers anxiety and nervousness immediately.

Show Interest in Others. Take the focus off yourself. Ask thoughtful questions and listen with interest. Be caring. People naturally like people who care about them.

Use Positive Self-Talk. Give yourself positive messages. Remind yourself of your strengths, talents, and successes.

New situations can make anyone feel a bit anxious and uncertain. That’s natural. Focus on making new friends and showing others that you care about them. They will be naturally drawn to you.
