One technique used in counseling is to imagine your future self. Imagine your future self five years from now. Ask your future self to tell you about your life five years from now. If you’re in the midst of challenges right now, ask your future self what helped you overcome your challenges. What worked? What didn’t work?
Have fun asking about all areas of your life – your spouse, your family, and your career. What travels did you take? What new opportunities came up for you?
Imagining your future self is a fun way to get in touch with your deepest dreams and desires. And it’s a powerful way to creatively look for solutions to your current challenges. Allow your self to dream and think the solutions from within. You may be pleasantly surprised at the possibilities already within.
